Eye Makeup Tutorial

Eye Makeup Tutorial

The eyes are the windows to the soul. They are usually the first thing that people see when they meet you and they reveal your innermost emotions. Eye makeup should be used to enhance your eyes, not mask them. These tips will help you use your makeup to make your eyes beautiful and give you the look that you want. They want to see your eyes, not your eye makeup. When you overdo your eye makeup, you just look clownish. Your eye makeup should enhance your eyes so that people notice the color and shape. You don't want people to say, "Oh, you have such pretty eye makeup." Instead, you want them to say, "Oh, you have pretty eyes!"

Please keep this eye makeup tip in mind when applying your eye makeup:

Eyeshadow for Eye Makeup Tutorial:

Save the robin's egg blue shadow for special occasions (if any).
If you are older than, say, 17, then your probably shouldn't wear robin's egg blue eye shadow. It is simply unflattering in most cases. If you want color, use a light blue to highlight or a navy liner to accent. But keep the blue shadow to a minimum. Stick with neutral colors and natural colors, including pinks and burgundies (whose tones mimic the skin's own undertones).

Eyeliner for Eye Makeup Tutorial:

Eyeliner can make or break your look. Eyeliner can give your eyes definition, make small eyes look larger and large eyes look smaller. They can also give balance to your eyes and even change the shape. For instance, if your eyes "droop," lining the lower lash line with a dark color will emphasize the droop. However, if you like the upper lash line with a deeper color and smudge a medium shade just under the outer three-fourths of the lower lash line and extend the outer liner just beyond the outer corner, angled slightly upward, you will "pick up" the eye. Also, try the black eyeliner for an evening and even then consider opting for gray or brown.

Mascara for Eye Makeup Tutorial:

Black mascara is more dramatic and should be used for evening makeup. You may be able to get away with black mascara if you have black hair, but even then black, brown or gray would probably still work. It is just softer and more appropriate for day and casual looks. Save the black mascara for a smoky eye or dramatic evening makeup.
